Which do YOU choose????

Why the truth is necessary???? It is important to discuss these sentiments with other black women. But WE ALL KNOW you can't criticize black women because they immediately become defensive, but hey it's worth a try!

Hair Restoration Project I

Okay, so here's the deal! I've been extremely busy in the past two months. School. Life. Family. Love. You name it, and I've been involved with it! Trying to finding time to blog has been a low priority. Including in my neglect has been my hair. This picture is an example of the damage that my hair has sustained for the past few weeks. Dry, rough, breaking, and dull is the status of my hair.

Fed-up, I became proactive and took drastic measures to restore the beauty and luster my hair deserves.

This is the first part of my project. Heavy conditioning and homemade hair dressing will be the source of my new found HAIR glory!

Below are pictures of the products and steps I took to get my hair back into to balance. Please stay tune to the final results.

Check it out!!!

A friend of mine told me about this site. She says that she likes their hair products and the other stuff too. Check it out. I requested a free catalog. http://www.carolsdaughter.com/. And Nicole....regardless of what you said in your post...I expect to see some more pics up here by the 15th. LOL! And you and Amber Libby have kept me going too. It is great feeling when someone commends you during this whole process. I've had a couple of people at work that has said something about me being an inspiration to them. Especially after I did the color....I shocked the crap out of some people. I'm glad that they realize that I am just being me and that's all I can be. I like to express myself and I don't want to be considered the norm. You guys are great! I've had a couple people look at the blog also and have shown interest. I gave both of you administrator rights so you should be able to send out invites for people to join. It will be great to have more people on here to motivate them during this process. Wouldn't it be cool if everyone started coming to our blog for motivation when going through the "rebirth of their hair." Love YALL! Amber...I know Tommy is there...but you can respond. LOL!

12 months is almost here..........

Ok, I just realized that I'm close to celebrating my year nappiversary! You like my word, don't ya? Well, if you don't, I do. July 19 was my 10 month nappiversary (there's that word again!). I guess I owe ya'll some updated pics, huh? I'll work on that tonight. I won't say when I'll post them because Brandy holds you to it and I may not get around to doing it tonight. I think I want to do some pics of my hair as I'm washing/conditioning it. I'm going to give my puff another try as well. I'm trying to find a brush that will be able to handle my naps and coils. I've tried checking at Target and I haven't had any luck. I'm going to try Sally's next. I won't brush my hair unless I'm trying to get my edges straight for a puff(s). I'm going to try to find something that will help my hair lay down also. It's hard to believe that it's been over 10 months and I haven't had a relaxer or put heat on my hair. Oh, before I forget, one of David's co-workers is thinking about going natural and I gave him the link to our blog to give to her. He told me last night that she said I'm her hero because I went natural. If she's serious about going natural, I'd like to extend an invitation to her to join our blog. I'll be emailing her for a while before I extend that invite, though. I know this might sound corny, but when David told me what she said, it made me wonder who my hair hero is. Well, I didn't have to think about that very long. It's not a superstar or someone on MySpace that I don't know........it's you guys (Brandy and Libby). I've never felt alone in this hair journey because Brandy created this wonderful blog for us to chart our progress and ask questions and make suggestions and it's allowed me to see that there's nothing to fear when it comes to going natural. Seeing all the different things you guys do with your hair is amazing and you both rock the 'fro so awesomely (I know that might not be a real word, but I'm using it anyway!). Brandy, you are so daring when it comes to your different styles and now your color and Libby (I really hope we get to meet in person some day soon!) you have this genuine earthiness when it comes to your natural, wild tresses (does that make sense? It doesn't look like the words are expressing what I'm trying to say very well). I usually rock the same old style, but I'm comfortable with that. I will eventually change up my look to something new and fresh and I get so many ideas from seeing what you guys post on the blog. You guys are truly an inspiration! Ok, enough of being sappy. I'll work on my pics and let you know what happens with David's co-worker (her name is Yoshi, but I don't think I spelled it right). Hopefully, our blog will begin to grow. Hey, crazy idea, but what would you guys think about having a party for my one year nappiversay? Libby, would you be able to come to Greensboro in September? I would probably do it on 9/13 because my parents are planning to come to VA for my dad's birthday and that's 2 days after my actual nappiversay. Let me know. Ok, I'm gone. I've rambled enough. Be on the look out for my pics........

My first puff

Ok, here are pics of my first (rough) puff. I thought I'd better go ahead and put these up before Brandy came up to VA and held a gun to my head to make me do it! Lol I was bored over the weekend and wanted to play with my hair, so after I showered, I parted my hair in 11 sections and braided it. I left the braids in overnight and the next day I took them out and combed out my hair. When I saw I had some length, I wanted to try a puff and here are the results. It's a small one, but I'm getting there. It would've looked better if I had slicked it down, but I didn't because I was about to get in the shower. I think I'll try it again and try to make it look a little better. :)

Two-strand twist

There is my first official attempt of the twists. I think it turned out very well! My compliments to my girl, Jamelia, for all her hard "FREE" effort on my head.
If this looks good when I take em' out, then I'll be doing this from now on.

My First Natural Hairdo

Ok, so here's the end result after getting my hair done. I got two strand twists all over. It didn't take long to get it done, either. This do can last for 4+ weeks, but I don't think I'll keep them in that long. I'm going to try to keep them in for 2 weeks then wear a twist out. I'm going to consider these my 9 month pics. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days away from my 9 month anniversary! YAY ME!
