Grown Women

Girls want to control the man in their life.
Grown women
know that if he's truly hers, he doesn't need controlling.

Girls check you for not calling them.
Grown women
are too busy to realize you hadn't.

Girls are afraid to be alone.
Grown women
revel in it-using it as a time for personal growth.

Girls
ignore the good guys.
Grown women
ignore the bad guys.

Girls
make you come home.
Grown women
make you want to come home.

Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and make plans.
Grown women
make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in where he fits.

Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough
for their man.

Grown women
know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man.

Girls try to monopolize all their man's time (i.e., don't want him hanging with his friends).
Grown women
realize that a lil' bit of space makes the 'together time' even more special-and goes to kick it with her own friends.

Girls think a guy crying is weak.
Grown women
offer their shoulder and a tissue.

Girls
want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so.
Grown
women 'show' him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate without fear of losing his 'manhood'.

Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it.
Grown women
know that was just one man.

Girls
fall in love and chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all 'signs'.
Grown women
know that sometimes the one you love, doesn't always love you back-and move on, without bitterness

Girls
will read this and get an attitude.
Grown women
will read this and pass it on to other Grown women

Baton "Black" Rouge, LA

I spent the past weekend in Baton Rouge, and loved every moment of it. Here are some pics of the trip.

Building with the youth!

Yeah, it was kind of hot down there.

Amen!

I received this response from "True Wise", a good friend of mine, in response to the radio piece of religion in America. After the recent the survey on "Religion in America", which was featured on 60-minutes and NPR, many people are questioning the general purpose of religion. If you are interested in knowing more about this survey and it's results, please visit the following websites:

True Wise's response:

" Religion is dying and for good reason. Not only does it make no sense, but it doesn't provide anyone with happiness, it doesn't offer any sense of purpose, it doesn't assist with spiritual development, and it doesn't do much to help people. Instead, it engages in constant fear-mongering and asking for money. People are sick and tired of the bullshit, so now they are leaving religion and seeking enlightenment.

People go to boring church service after boring church service to listen to some preacher drone on and on about nothing that relates to life. They don't try to fix society; they don't try to save the youth so they can have a better world to look forward to. All they do is let THIS world go to total HELL while selfishly trying to get their own "soul" into HEAVEN. The children ask really good questions like "if God is here, why can't I see him?", and "why did God kill his only son?". The children see that religion makes no sense, but we as adults, what do we do? We tell them to shut up and believe; slowly killing their brains and their ability to think critically. Years later those children are hopeless, failing school, and doing drugs because their religion failed them. They had no system of spirituality to look to. All they had was a bunch of old, defeated-looking, fat, bitter adults telling them not to think. Then the youth hate the older generations and we wonder why.

As people squeeze their fat ass into the church pew, they might want to stop and think: if this religion is so great, why do I feel so unhappy and unfulfilled. Why does my life suck so much? Why are my children on drugs and flunking out of school? Why is it that the neighborhoods with the most churches also have the worst conditions? Why is the church the only place where people tell me not to think? Why do I get mad at my children for asking questions about religion? Why do I need to give God my money all the damn time?

I guess people are finally waking up to the sham. Christians are the most unhappy people in the world. Christians are the fattest and most overweight people in the world. Christians have a higher count of homosexuality than anyone else in the world. The nations with the highest suicide rates are Christian. And they call that being "saved"? No thanks, I'd rather choose love peace and happiness."

I would like to see what your comments are about this survey, as well about True's thoughts on the matter. Please leave something on the post.

And another one. . .

New Year, new do! Well, my hair is doing just lovely. It's extremely cold here in the Mid-West, so keeping my hair moisturized and protected is a must.!
These pictures that I'm posting are actually from my Vegas trip. Nevertheless, they are still great and show a little of my progress. I'll have more up-to-date pics next week.

Peace

Me, myself and I at 2 months after BC.

I was trying something a little different in this pic. I like it. It makes my hair look longer and wavy like I got Indian in my family...hu yuh yuh yuh yuh! This was the front image of the above hair style. I like the top view better. I didn't pick it out right to make it look more even.
Okay...This is just me fro'ed out without a band and my tiger print hair. I look really light in these pictures.

Your hair is really getting longer Nicole. And your eyes look very intense in that last picture. Tyra Banks would love it. These are my latest pictures and I wanted to share them. I am now at 2 months, 1 week and 1 day. This is gonna be awesome in the summer. Since it's so cold, I try to wear a hat.....but I don't like picking my hair back out at work. This summer....I'll be able to wash it whenever and slap some moisturizer and oil on it and go outside and let the sun have fun in it. Can't wait. I hate the winter anywayz.

4 Month Update

Well, here are a couple pics of my hair. I washed it, moisturized it, and picked it out. It's been 4 months, 2 weeks, and 1 day since my big cut. I'm still loving my natural hair. I'm getting a little bored with just wearing a headband all the time, so I'm looking into finding a salon that deals with natural hair. I want to get a trim and get my hair braided. I want some kind of design in the front. It'll be something different. My front and top are growing really well, but my sides and back are taking a while to grow. I'm hoping by summer I'll be able to make a small pony puff. I was talking to Brandy and both of us miss
being able to put our hair in ponytails. I just think it'll be so cute. I've seen other women with natural hair and they've moisturized their hair and slicked it back and put it in a pony puff and it's so wavy and shiny and healthy looking. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 5 months since I cut off my relaxed hair. I haven't regretted doing it at all. I've been looking for colorful scarves that I can use instead of my plain headbands. I was on a website and saw this woman who put flowers in her hair and it was so cute when she put them on the side of her puff. Not to get off the subject, but how awesome do my eyes look in the second pic?? I wasn't planning that at all! Lol Any who, I guess that'll be all for now. I wanted to get my 4 month pics up before Brandy tried to snatch me bald (j/k, B. You know I loves ya). Keep on trucking with the naturals! VIVA LA NAPPYHEADS! I know that may not be right, but you get what I'm saying. Lol Later!
