Half way there!!

Well, I reached my 6 month mark on 3/19/08. I'll post my pics tonight. I'm excited because there's been a lot of growth. I'm planning on getting a natural stylist to do my hair in April. My mom went to this lady in Greensboro and she's been dealing with natural hair for many years. I want her to give me a trim (if I need one), wash and style. I'm just going to get the front braided and let the back go bushy. I'm very proud of myself. I made the decision to cut my straightened hair off and go natural and I had NO idea what to expect. I didn't think I would like it.....no, LOVE it as much as I do. I've stuck with it and I've had no regrets at all. I love the way my hair feels and I love the way it curls up. I've noticed that when I'm washing it I can ring my fingers through it and make it lay flat and I've got a little bit of length to it! I can put the front in a very small ponypuff, but I'm not going to try doing it just yet. I hope everyone is having great success with their hair as well. Well, that's all for now. Look for my pics later on this evening.

Response to "Amen"

Okay first things first....I like the picture of you and Thomas that showcases your hair (one of the main purposes for this blog). The other 3 that showcases Tommy.....ummmm....I don't know. We'll just say that you were showing of his locs and that your nose is not wide open. :-P

I finally read your friend "True Wise's" position on religion. I don't know if you ever really knew my religious outlook or lack thereof. I have a methodist religious background because that is what I grew up in and forced to attend. Me and RayShawn had this discussion before (yes.....RayShawn McKinnon, DHS c/o 99). I understand completely what True Wise is saying. Organized religion may becoming a waste of time or at least hard for someone to determine which religion is best for them or what religious leaders are actually trustworthy or "God"worthy. At this time, I don't have any religious stance. Religion confuses me. I wanted to understand it more so I took a World Religions class a couple of semesters ago. That completely complicated the situation more for me. I don't feel that people have to go to church or be baptized for them to lead a blessed life. This became a even bigger issue for me after I had Kayleigh because some of my family members (I'll call them religious) made suggestions for me to have Kayleigh baptized. I haven't. Grandma brings it up every once in a while. It was an issue and I asked my grandma if Kayleigh wasn't baptized does that mean that her life is not going to be good or she was going to be full of sin. That's they way she made it seem. I have decided that it will be a choice that I will let Kayleigh make when she gets older. I don't feel that if I was more into religion that would change my current circumstances. I believe there is a higher being....whether you want him to be God or some statue, he exist for many. I can ask pray and I can read any religious book without going to a "church." I probably could go much more in depth with this subject, but this is a hot topic for me so I'm gonna go ahead and wind it on down.
